Hi, I’m Sean Carlton-Appleton CPT, CES.
I am a certified fitness and corrective exercise trainer. My mission in life is to restore physicality and vitality to people 50 years and older.
I am endlessly fascinated by human movement and the potential capabilities therein.
It is for these reasons that I refuse to believe we are doomed into physical decline as we age. The game may change as grow older, but we can still win.
Getting older isn't an option. Feeling old is.
Through these precise exercises, you can enter your golden years with more youthful physical abundance than you ever thought possible.
A Little Thought Experiment
See it. Believe it. Achieve it.
CLIENT TESTIMONIALS
Working with Renaissance Fitness is one of the best decisions I have made for my health in a long time. I’ve been dealing with a shoulder injury that really had a negative impact on my fitness and mobility as well as flat arches causing low back pain. Sean took the time to listen and help me build back a solid foundation. He challenged me without overwhelming me. It’s great to feel more like my old self again. And now I have tools and support to keep improving. If you’re thinking about a personal trainer you can’t go wrong with Sean and Renaissance Fitness!

I'd been toying with the idea of working with a personal trainer for about 5 years. I like to know I can do things on my own without help. I'm proud in that way, but since childbirth (7 years ago) I've had new physical challenges along with the old ones and despite physical therapy and yoga classes, I haven't been able to play sports, run, or even play tag with my kids without arthritic pain or incontinence and I've struggled to lose weight on my own.
I turned 40 this year and over the past 5 years I've really noticed myself losing mobility and holding more tension in my body. I felt that I needed to get my weight and fitness under control now. So I made the jump to hire Sean.
I was really nervous about whether or not working with a personal trainer was a good idea. Would he even understand my challenges? Would I feel like a failure in asking for help? Could my issues even be improved, or did I just need to accept that this was my body now and these were my limits?
Looking back at the past 3 months of working with Sean, it's not easy to summarize everything that happened in-between. Nothing happened overnight and yet I've come so far in a very short amount of time. I remember after a month of sessions, I considered taking the exercises and trying to do them on my own, but I opted to continue with his guidance and the wonderful thing is that as my strength and agility has improved, the work he brings to sessions has changed as well to challenge me where I'm at. Our sessions now don't resemble much of what we did in that first month.
Sean has been the best trainer to me, bringing low-impact but challenging and inventive exercises to our sessions that have improved all of my issues. I have miles to go before I'm at where I want to be but for the first time in a while I'm confident that I can get there because I'm seeing the progress through the work we've both put in.
